Business Analyst: Careers in Business Analysis

Adrian Reed

An invaluable reference book for Business Analysts. The book makes a clear distinction between BA Skills and BA Role Names. The Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) referenced in the book provides examples for how the skills are often packaged into Roles/Job Titles. This will help people figure out what they mean by a Business Analyst in their own particular organisation/project.
The chapter on the Breadth and Depth of the BA Role is a coherent discussion on where the BA role fits in the lifecycle of Business Change. And there is a good explanation of how a BA can work to communicate and fit with other specialist disciplines.
This is a major step towards making Business Analysis a more recognisable and hence more recognised profession.
